Good News in Haiti
Monday, September 12th

Over a year and a half after the devastating earthquake in Haiti, life continues to be a struggle for many people. Flooding and cholera have deepened the struggle, and even now, thousands are homeless. Rebuilding their lives and their country has been a slow, arduous process for the Haitian people.
There have been some bright spots amidst the dreary months though. Childcare Worldwide has sponsored Good News Clubs for the children of Haiti. The Good News Club is a Vacation Bible School type program that takes place during school vacation in lieu of the Haiti School Feeding program.
This summer’s program attracted 300 children from two different schools. The children did crafts, heard Bible stories, learned about hygiene, and ate a nutritious lunch. For many children, this may have been the only meal they received that day. Several children decided to make Jesus the Lord of their life during the program.
Proverbs 22:6 says to "train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." The Good News Club is a part of this training, and enables children to build firm foundations on which to build the rest of their lives.
As life continues to be a struggle for the thousands of Haitians without homes, food, or jobs, the Good News Club is a small ray of hope.
Please pray for the people of Haiti – for God’s provision, comfort, and hope. Pray that they will truly know God’s love and power.
