What is the Need?
In many developing nations, corruption and bribery are a part of daily life. In Kenya alone, the average person has to pay sixteen bribes a month just to get by. There is desperate need for transformation. Many educational leaders in Kenya believe that Christian Character Building will be the key to national transformation. It is our hope
that positive social change will happen through the character
development of children and young adults in every nation where Christian Character Building is established.
How Does Christian Character Building Work?
Each Christian Character Building program is country-specific, so the curriculum varies slightly from one country to another. The program uses Biblical and historical figures along with real-life examples to display leaders who portray positive, Christ-like character. Children are also taught character skills through skits, Bible stories and memory verses. Motivational rewards and positive encouragement are given when children display excellent character choices.
Does Christian Character Building really transform lives?
Even though the Christian Character Building program is relatively new, we have already seen many young lives powerfully changed.Teachers of Christian Character Building in Kenya have seen a seventh grade student, Edwin, “turn into a gentle, obedient student who cares deeply about those around him.” Edwin was known as a troublemaker and was skeptical of the Christian Character Building program before he enrolled. As he began the program, learning Christ-like character traits and applying them to his life, he was selected to serve as the “head boy,” the highest position of leadership in his school. Now, Edwin thinks that Christian Character Building should be taught everywhere in the world—not just is his own school.
How much does Christian Character Building cost?
It takes only $20 a month to teach 100 children through the Christian Character Building program. This practical model is inexpensive to fund, covering only the costs of curriculum materials and a little extra salary for the teachers who volunteer as program instructors.
