When Crisis Hit, Your Gifts Made the Difference
In March, Kanlangala Island in Uganda was struck by a powerful cyclone that tore through home, destroyed crops, and left families struggling to survive. Many children returned to school hungry and unsure where their next meal would come from.
Because of the quick response made possible through the Where Most Needed Fund, Childcare Worldwide was able to act immediately - delivering emergency food supplies to the Lake Victoria Education Centre. Over 400 students received nourishing meals that will keep them strong for months.
For 12-year-old Shakirah, whose family's crops were lost, this provision was a lifeline. "My mother is happy knowing I get a good meal at school," she said. "It comforts her."
When the sacks of food arrived, the children's faces lit up. In that moment, hope walked through the door - hope that meant full stomachs, focused minds, and the chance to simply be children again.
